This is a full programme of Health & Safety subjects. Divided into comfortably sized modules to work through. The programme culminates in a Level 2 qualification accredited through NCFE upon successful completion of all 4 mandatory units.

The course aims to provide learners with an understanding of key health and safety legislation and how to maintain health and safety in the workplace. It also provides wider benefits to the learner and employers, as well as and encouraging a ‘safe practice’ culture.

Content

The course consists of four units:

  • Unit 1: Introduction to the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974
  • Unit 2: Hazards, risks and risk assessments
  • Unit 3: Electricity, hazardous substances (COSHH) and fire safety
  • Unit 4: Work equipment (PUWER) personal protective equipment (PPE) and first aid

Who is the course aimed at:

  • Anyone who needs an understanding of Health & Safety in the workplace. Particularly good programme for staff who work in 24hour service industry provision and are not able to attend whole day course provision.

Further information:

The course programme is delivered as blended learning utilizing the learners own abilities in self study and short tutorials with the tutor. In between appointments the tutor is available by phone or email for any queries.

The learner completes a series of assessment questions which are assessed and moderated to national standards. The tutor ensures the learner has full understanding of the information contained in the learning materials.

Certain criteria does apply as the course does attract LSC funding. Opus Training works in partnership with a local college to be able to offer this course. Contact us for further details.
