Supervision and Appraisal

Employee performance can be measured in a variety of ways. It highlights training needs, identifies areas of strength and weakness in an organization or department and can be the beginning of positive actions.

Appraisals help to reduce conflict, discourage discrimination and develop a loyal and committed workforce. Many managers have worked their way up through the company promotions system and found themselves in a position where they have had to appraise staff and have only had their own experiences to go on. These may not always be positive experiences and therefore staff begin to become anxious about the process.
